STANDING OUT for God isn’t always beautiful. It is hard and unnatural and much easier to blend in with the rest of society. Daniel and his friends made the choice to stand out for God. It wasn’t easy, but God was enough for them – more than the fine things this world could offer. What resolutions will you make to commit to God today? How will YOU stand out?

How often are our hearts moved when we look at people? Many people are suffering and need mercy yet they are overlooked. Jesus saw people as helpless and He was touched and had compassion on them. In the same way that Jesus had compassion on the blind man in the book of Mark, we are called to have compassion for others. In this way we are called to not only preach the Gospel but also to demonstrate it to those in our own communities.

The Christian life consists of 3 components: vertical (with God), horizontal (with one another) and external (to the world); however, the external component is often overlooked. Jesus did not just come to save people from their sins – He came to save people in order that they would then go on to reach others who are not yet saved. Jesus gave us the ultimate example to show us who to reach out to and how to reach them.

Happy Father’s Day!
Growing up, Joseph was his father Jacob’s favorite son. This did not sit well with his brothers and they sold him to become a slave in Egypt. Through a series of events (God’s sovereignty), Joseph became an extremely powerful ruler over all the land -second to Pharaoh. In a time of great famine, Joseph has mercy on his brothers and reconciles with them through the power of faith and forgiveness from God.

In the parable of the prodigal son, the son’s greed leads him to squander his inheritance. Yet, his biggest sin, even more than his greediness, was his rebellion against his father. Like the prodigal son, we believe that we can live independently of our Father, specifically our Heavenly Father. However, that rebellion only leads us down a path of destruction. But, because of His mercy, we as sinners can be restored one day to become co-heirs with Christ.
